Brett Kelly is beginning his seventh season as a member of the athletics department at Gettysburg College and his first as associate men's soccer coach. Kelly serves a dual role on the staff as an associate coach with the men’s soccer program and as the co-head coach of the men’s and women’s tennis teams.
Kelly served as an assistant men's soccer coach in 2002 and 2003 before returning to his alma mater in 2006. Kelly has helped lead the Bullets to a record of 41-25-11 and three conference playoff berths in his return stint. In his six years as an assistant coach with the program, Gettysburg has posted a record of 63-37-14 and made the postseason five times.
Kelly made the return to Gettysburg following a two-season coaching stint at East Carolina University, a member of Conference USA. Kelly also has coached youth soccer, leading the 89 Greenville Stars (N.C.) to an undefeated season during the spring of 2005, and he holds a NSCAA National Diploma and NSCAA National Goalkeeping Diploma.
In addition to his soccer duties, Kelly took over as a co-head coach with Gettysburg’s men’s and women’s tennis teams in 2008 following a two-year stint as an assistant. In his first three years as co-head coach, Kelly has guided the tennis teams to a combined record of 52-46 competing in one of the deepest regions in the country. Both men’s and women’s programs have each notched winning records in two of three seasons under Kelly’s guidance.
A 2003 graduate of Gettysburg, Kelly was a key defensive player as a member of the men’s soccer squad from 1998 to 2001. Over that four-year period, the Bullets went 63-15-3, won two Centennial Conference championships, made three trips to the NCAA Division III Tournament, and won the ECAC Division III South Championship. Kelly served as team captain during his senior season of 2001.
