GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Senior Dan Capkin (Wynnewood, Pa./Lower Merion) of the Gettysburg College men’s basketball team has been an Honorable Mention Preseason All-American by D3hoops.com, the website recently announced.

Capkin, a National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) First Team All-District selection last season, averaged 19.6 points per game to finish third in the Centennial Conference and 61st in Division III in scoring. He led the team and was second in the conference in three-pointers, drilling 75 treys, and shot 80.0% (104-for-130) at the foul line. Capkin was also third among the Bullets with 71 assists and second on the squad with 32 steals.

In addition to his all-district selection, Capkin, who helped lead the Bullets to a 24-5 record and the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Division III Tournament, was named to the All-Centennial Conference First Team, the D3hoops.com All-Middle Atlantic Region Second Team, and the ECAC South Region All-Star Team.

Capkin enters the 2008-09 season ranked 14th on the school’s all-time scoring list with 1,121 points and fourth in three-pointers with 146.

Gettysburg, ranked 11th in the D3hoops.com Preseason Poll, kicks off the season when it hosts the Days Inn Tournament Friday and Saturday, Nov. 21-22. The Bullets take on Elizabethtown at 6 p.m. in the first round while Rowan and Geneseo face off at 8 p.m.
