LANCASTER, Pa. – Gettysburg College senior
Kristina Mercier (Baltimore, Md./Mount de Sales Academy) was named the Centennial Conference Volleyball Player of the Week according to an announcement by league officials on Tuesday, Oct. 27.
Mercier earned her first career weekly honor from the conference after leading Gettysburg to a pair of sweeps in league play last week. She posted a dozen kills and a dozen digs in a 3-0 victory over McDaniel College on Oct. 21 before notching a dozen kills and eight digs in a 3-0 decision over Swarthmore College on Oct. 24. For the week, Mercier averaged 4.0 kills and 3.33 digs per set, while recording a .328 attack percentage.
This season, Mercier leads Gettysburg in attacking with 233 kills, averaging 2.65 per set. She is also third on the team in digs with an average of 3.33 and she has tallied 32 total blocks.
Gettysburg (17-7, 6-2 CC) will look to lock up a playoff spot this week with its final two Centennial Conference matches. The Bullets take on Dickinson College at home on Wednesday, Oct. 28, at 7 p.m. before closing the regular season at Muhlenberg College on Friday, Oct. 30, at 7 p.m.
