HERSHEY, Pa. – The Gettysburg College men’s golf team placed 10th among 16 teams at the Elizabethtown College Fall Classic at an extremely windy Hershey Country Club East Course on Wednesday.

Freshman Austin Smith (Sudbury, Mass./Lincoln-Sudbury Regional) was the team’s top finisher for the third time in four matches this season, tying for ninth among 77 competitors with a 10-over-par 81. Sophomore George Whitelaw (Weston, Mass./Dexter School) tied for 42nd with an 88 while junior Colin Quinn (Manhasset, N.Y./Chaminade) tied for 52nd with a 90. Sophomore Jim Fellows (Bow, N.H./Bow) completed the team scoring, tying for 55th with a 91.

Elizabethtown captured the team title with a 318 while Messiah College’s Matt Burckhart won with a 74.

Gettysburg concludes its fall schedule when it hosts the Gettysburg Invitational on Tuesday at The Links at Gettysburg.
