2009 All-Centennial Conference Volleyball Team
LANCASTER, Pa. – Senior
Amanda Krampf (Gaithersburg, Md./Gaithersburg) became just the third Gettysburg College volleyball player to land All-Centennial Conference honors four times when she was selected first team by the conference's head coaches according to a release by league officials on Thursday, Nov. 12.
Krampf was joined by three teammates on the all-conference squad, all repeat selections from 2008. Senior
Kristina Mercier (Baltimore, Md./Mount de Sales Academy) and junior
Kate Yoder (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus) were each tabbed second team, while senior libero
Kristin Kotewicz (Columbia, Md./River Hill) was selected honorable mention.
Krampf, a first-team all-conference pick as a freshman, made a return to the top team after spending the last two seasons on the second team. Arguably the most versatile setter in the Centennial Conference, she finished among the league leaders in both assists and digs. She finished third in the former stat at 8.61 assists per set and placed 10th with 3.48 digs per set. Krampf led Gettysburg with 42 service aces this fall and finished with 85 kills and 31 total blocks. She put up at least 20 assists in all but three matches and tallied double-digit digs in all but seven contests. Krampf wrapped up her career in orange and blue third in school history in assists (3,860) and fourth overall in digs (1,646).
Mercier made the move up from honorable mention status last fall to the second team. The team's leading hitter, she posted team highs for kills (268) and kills per set (2.60), ranking 10th in the conference in the latter stat. She knocked down 10 or more kills 13 times, including a 22-kill effort against Virginia Wesleyan College on Sept. 19. A well-rounded hitter, Mercier finished third on the team in digging at 3.21 per set and she posted 39 total blocks. In four years on the court, she finished with 845 kills, 750 digs, and 145 blocks.
Picking up her third all-conference selection was Yoder, an honorable mention selection as a freshman and a first-team honoree last fall. She overcame an early season injury to finish second on the squad in kills per set at 2.35. Her efficiency on the attack put her third overall in the CC with a .322 hitting percentage and she also finished among the conference defensive leaders with 0.63 blocks per set. With one more season remaining, the Bullet junior already ranks among the school's all-time leaders with 201 total blocks, in addition to recording 717 kills and 327 digs.
Rounding out Gettysburg's all-conference selections is Kotewicz, who dropped down from first-team honors a year ago. Even with an improved blocking front, she finished second overall in the conference in digging at 4.87 per set. Racking up 487 digs this season, Kotewicz topped her total from her junior year and posted the sixth-highest single-season mark in school history. She logged double-digit digs in all but the first two matches of the season, including a season-high 31 against Bridgewater College. Kotewicz concluded her career sixth on the Bullets' all-time digs list with 1,393.
Gettysburg finished 19-9 overall and 7-3 in Centennial Conference this season. The Bullets finished runner-up in the conference tournament to nationally-ranked Haverford College for the second-straight season.
