All-Region Teams

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – For the second year in a row, senior midfielder Vanessa Pabon (New Oxford, Pa./New Oxford) has been named to the 2009 Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III All-South Region Second Team, it was announced Monday.

Pabon, who last week captured First Team All-Centennial Conference honors for the second straight season, was Gettysburg's lone representative on the all-region team.

Pabon, a defensive midfielder, helped lead an outstanding Bullet defensive unit. While posting seven points on one goal and a team-leading (tied) five assists, she helped Gettysburg hold its opponents to a 1.38 goals-against average, a mark that ranks second in the Centennial Conference. The Bullets are also tied for the conference lead with a single-season school record 10 shutouts.

The Bullets closed out the season with a record of 14-5, including an 8-2 mark in the Centennial Conference. Gettysburg, which finished with a No. 17 national ranking, posted its highest victory total and highest final ranking since 2005. The Bullets placed second in the final conference standings and lost 4-3 to Johns Hopkins University in the Centennial Conference semifinals.
