D3hoops.com Preseason All-America Team

Andrew Powers (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown) of the Gettysburg College men's basketball team has been named a Preseason Second Team All-American by
D3hoops.com, it was announced Friday.
Powers, the website's Middle Atlantic Region Player of the Year last season, becomes Gettysburg's third
D3hoops.com Preseason All-American, joining
Dan Capkin '09 (fourth team, 2008-09) and Curtis McNeil '02 (honorable mention, 2001-02).
Last season, Powers, who will enter the season with 925 career points, became Gettysburg's first-ever National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-American when he landed a spot on the third team. Also the 2008-09 Centennial Conference Player of the Year, he is coming off a fine sophomore season in which he led the team in scoring with 18.2 points per game, a mark that ranked second in the Centennial. He also led the Bullets in rebounding (7.4 rpg), steals (1.4 spg), and field-goal percentage (54.5). In addition, Powers went 146-for-201 (72.6 percent) at the free-throw line – the third-highest totals in school history.
Gettysburg, the 2008-09 Centennial Conference champions, play their season opener on Nov. 20, when they host Messiah College at 6 p.m. in the first round of Gettysburg's Day Inn Tournament.
