2009 NSCAA All-Mid-Atlantic Region Team
KANSAS CITY, Kan. – Senior midfielder
Geoff Menge (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) of the Gettysburg College men's soccer team was tabbed All-Mid-Atlantic Region Second Team by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).
The only four-time All-Centennial Conference selection in school history, Menge picked up his first all-region nod as the leader of the Bullets' midfield. A team co-captain, he started all 17 contests and led the squad with 65 shots. He finished second on the team in scoring with 14 points on five goals and four assists. Three of his goals and an assist came in a 6-2 victory over Haverford College on Oct. 10, while another score helped lift the Bullets to a 3-2 decision over then No. 18 Johns Hopkins University on Oct. 28.Menge was also a major factor on the defensive end, helping the Orange and Blue record six shutouts this fall.
Menge will leave a substantial gap in Gettysburg's midfield when he graduates in May. Over the last four seasons, he has started all but three of 76 matches played and has totaled 57 points, ranking him ninth in school history.
Gettysburg closed 2009 with an 8-7-2 overall record. The Bullets finished just outside the playoff picture in the Centennial Conference, closing with a 4-5 record for seventh place.
