HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Gettysburg College men's tennis team couldn't make it two Centennial Conference victories in a row as regionally-ranked Haverford College downed the visiting Bullets 8-1 on Friday. Gettysburg dropped to 6-6 overall and 1-4 in the CC.
Haverford (10-1, 5-0 CC), ranked eighth in the Atlantic South Region, opened with victories at second and first doubles before the Bullets got on the board with a win at No. 3. Junior
Kevin Raynes (Northumberland, Pa./Shikellamy) and freshman
Mike McLaughlin (Hanover, Pa./South Western) earned an 8-5 win over Will Garrett and Nathaniel Sergay.
The Fords handily took the singles competition in straight-sets, with Raynes putting up the stiffest fight before dropping a 7-5, 6-4 decision at the sixth flight.
Gettysburg returns to play on Wednesday, April 15, with a road trip to Dickinson College. The match is scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m.
