Box Score

CARLISLE, Pa. – Freshmen Terry Keegan (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Prep) and Sebastian Rodriguez (Plano, Texas/Plano West) won their doubles contest and each posted wins in singles action, but it wasn’t enough to lift the Gettysburg College men’s tennis team to a victory as host Dickinson College earned a 5-4 decision in Centennial Conference action on Friday.

After Dickinson (11-5, 4-2 CC) picked up the match’s first point with a win at first doubles, Keegan and Rodriguez spurred Gettysburg (6-7, 1-5 CC) to its first point with an 8-6 win at No. 2 doubles, and the third doubles tandem of junior Kevin Raynes (Northumberland, Pa./Shikellamy) and freshman Mike McLaughlin (Hanover, Pa./South Western) followed with a victory by the same score.

The Red Devils jumped back in front with straight-set wins at each of the top two singles flights before Keegan tacked on a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Trevor Heck at No. 3. Raynes fell in an opening-set tiebreaker and dropped the second frame 6-4 at No. 6, while Dickinson secured the win at fourth singles as Bo Marshall defeated McLaughlin 6-4, 7-5. Rodriguez picked up the Bullets final point with a win at No. 5, bouncing back from a second-set tiebreaker loss to win 6-1, 6-7, 10-3.

Gettysburg turns back around tomorrow with a conference contest at home against Ursinus College at 1 p.m.
