GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Gettysburg College came up empty in its bid to halt the Johns Hopkins University tennis teams on Thursday as the Blue Jays posted 9-0 decisions in men’s and women’s Centennial Conference tennis action.

On the men’s side, 12th-ranked Johns Hopkins (12-3, 8-0 CC) swept doubles play with Gettysburg’s (7-8, 2-6 CC) top tandem of senior Mike Leary (Alexandra, Va./Gonzaga College (D.C.)) and junior Dale Beshore (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East) dropping an 8-4 decision to David Maldow and Andrew Wang, the second-ranked team in the Atlantic South Region.

The Blue Jays swept singles action in straight-sets. Freshman Mike McLaughlin (Hanover, Pa./South Western) proved the stiffest test for the visitors with a 6-3, 6-3 loss to Casey Blythe at No. 4.

Johns Hopkins’ women’s team was even more dominant with shutouts at first doubles and first, second, third, and sixth singles. Junior Kelly Eurich (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown) and freshman Candice Kashani (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) put in the closest effort with an 8-4 loss to Yasmine Elamir and Anita Bhamidipati at second doubles.

Both Bullets teams will look to rebound and close the spring season with victories on Saturday, April 25, with conference dual matches at Muhlenberg College. The men’s teams are scheduled to start at 11:30 a.m. with the women following at 3:30 p.m.
