Erin Ober (Lutherville, Md./Dulaney) added another award to her burgeoning trophy case this spring as the senior outfielder was tabbed
ESPN The Magazine College Division Academic All-District 2 Third Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and announced on Thursday, May 7.
After being named Centennial Conference Player of the Year, All-CC First Team, and Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-East Region First Team in the past week, Ober landed her first selection to CoSIDA's academic all-district team. She is the softball program's 10th selection overall since 2003.
Ober started all 38 games in center field and finished the year as the team leader in batting average (.402), runs (41), hits (49), triples (5), home runs (6), RBI (tied-31), total bases (85), slugging percentage (.697), on-base percentage (.464), and stolen bases (14). Ober also tied the school's single-season record for home runs and posted the second-highest totals for runs and total bases.
Ober was a three-time All-CC pick and closed her career with a .350 batting average, ranking 10th in program history. She ranked among the school's all-time leaders in nearly every offensive stat, including ranking second in stolen bases (34) and home runs (12), third in total bases (244), and fifth in runs scored (101) and hits (160).
A major in health sciences, Ober was named to the CC Spring Academic Honor Roll in each of her final three seasons and carries a 3.53 cumulative grade point average.
The academic all-district selections are nominated and voted on by members of CoSIDA. Student-athletes must have a minimum 3.3 GPA, must have attained at least sophomore standing, and must have participated in 50 percent of their team's contests. The District II College Division consists of all non-NCAA Division I colleges and universities in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia.
