GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Gettysburg added another early notch on its belt to start the season with a dominating three-set victory over visiting Hood College Wednesday night inside Bream Gym. The Bullets won the match handily with scores of 25-11, 25-8, and 25-5 and opened the season 2-0 for the first time since 1998.
Gettysburg (2-0) connected on 44.1 percent of its attack attempts Wednesday night and matched its kill total from its first match with 31 against Hood (0-1). One night removed from dishing out 17 service aces, the Bullets handed out a dozen at the Blazers' expense.
Senior setter
Amanda Krampf (Gaithersburg, Md./Gaithersburg) handed out 21 assists and in doing so, became the fourth Bullet in school history to reach 3,000 for a career. Krampf trails only Nicole Evans '01 (4,580), Shannan Smith '06 (4,332), and Lauren Boyd '03 (3,749) on the all-time list with 3,004. She also added three aces and a team-high nine digs on the night.
Senior
Kristina Mercier (Baltimore, Md./Mount de Sales) turned in an efficient night on the attack with nine kills in 10 attempts and added six digs. Junior
Kate Yoder (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus) posted six kills and senior
Stephanie Rickabaugh (West Chester, Pa./Henderson) and junior
Nicole Burns (Horsham, Pa./Hatboro) each posted four kills.
Gettysburg returns to action this weekend by hosting the two-day Battlefield Classic in Bream Gym and Hauser Field House. Action starts at 3 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 4, and continues through Saturday, Sept. 5.
