LEBANON, Pa. – Freshman
Austin Smith (Sudbury, Mass./Lincoln-Sudbury Regional) tied for 14th among 116 competitors, leading the Gettysburg College men’s golf team in its season-opening Lebanon Valley College Fall Invitational Monday afternoon at the Lebanon Country Club.
Smith carded a five-over 77 as the Bullets tied for ninth out of 25 teams, finishing with a team score of 325.
Mike Kachurak of Delaware Valley College shot a 72 to finish in a three-way tie for first but claimed medalist honors on the first handicap. Albright College won the team title with a 307.
Juniors
Peter Kratsios (Manhasset, N.Y./Manhasset) and
Peter Ruymann (Sudbury, Mass./Lincoln-Sudbury Regional) each shot an 80 to tie for 29th. Senior
Reid Sessa (Garden City, N.Y./Xavier) rounded out the team scoring, posting an 82 to tie for 41st.
Also competing were senior
Matt Anderson (Dunkirk, Md./The Calverton School) and sophomore
George Whitelaw (Weston, Mass./Dexter School), who each recorded an 83 to tie for 48th.
Gettysburg continues the fall portion of its schedule on Saturday, when it travels to the Susquehanna University Fall Invitational.
