NCAA Regional Rankings (Feb. 3, 2010)
INDIANAPOLIS – In the midst of one of the best seasons in program history, the Gettysburg College women's basketball team was recognized as the sixth-best team in the first Mid-Atlantic regional poll released by the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Committee on Feb. 3.
Gettysburg (18-2, 13-2 CC) fell behind a group of nationally-ranked teams in the first regional poll. In order from first to fifth on the Mid-Atlantic poll was Moravian College, Lebanon Valley College, Messiah College, the University of Scranton, and Muhlenberg College. All five of those squads are ranked in both national top 25 polls conducted by D3hoops and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA). Noteworthy, Muhlenberg and Gettysburg were ranked ahead of Centennial Conference front-runner McDaniel College in the region.
Gettysburg won its first 13 games and received notice on the D3hoops national poll earlier in the season. The Bullets are currently tied for second in the conference with Muhlenberg. The squad is on the quest for its first Centennial Conference championship and its first national tournament berth in 15 years.
The Orange and Blue is slated to play to Ursinus College on Saturday, Feb. 6, at 4 p.m. However, a severe winter storm is predicted to pass through the East Coast and could hamper Saturday's sports schedule. Visit gettysburgsports.com for the latest updates.
