MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – It took all of two hitters for the Gettysburg College softball team to take a lead against Randolph College on Thursday as freshman
Joy Hallfors (Mt. Airy, Md./Linganore) opened with a hit and junior
Megan Lott (Bellsville, Md./Pallotti) followed with her third home run of the spring to power the Bullets to an 11-3 victory.
Gettysburg (5-3) received six hits, four runs, and six RBI from its top-two hitters on Thursday. Hallfors went 4-for-4 from the lead-off spot, scoring twice and driving in three, including a pair on a triple. Lott continued her power surge this spring and finished 2-for-4 with two runs and three RBI.
The Bullets put up 14 hits in the contest as seniors
Sarah Woodbury (Audubon, Pa./Mt. St. Joseph Academy) and
Beth McCullough (Ft. Wayne, Ind./Homestead) and freshman
Sam Bader (York, Pa./Central York) each posted two base hits. Both McCullough and Bader came around to score twice, while junior
Caitlin Bay (Flemington, N.J./Immaculata) brought in a pair of runs on a triple to right.
McCullough earned her second victory on the mound this spring, allowing three runs on four hits, while striking out one.
Gettysburg was also slated to play North Carolina Wesleyan College on Thursday, but rain postponed that contest until Friday morning at 9, weather permitting.
