NEW ORLEANS – The Gettysburg College men's and women's cross country teams have each been named United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division III All-Academic Teams, it was recently announced.
In addition, seniors Kerrin Epstein (Moravia, N.Y./Moravia) and Sarah Fritz (Ledyard, Conn./Ledyard) each garnered USTFCCCA All-Academic status for finishing with GPAs of over 3.4 and earning all-region status at the NCAA Division III Mideast regional meet.
THE USTFCCCA awards All-Academic recognition to teams that have a minimum 3.10 GPA and compile a team score at its NCAA regional meet. The Bullets women's team finished with a GPA of 3.44 during the fall and placed fifth at the regional meet. Gettysburg's men posted a 3.22 GPA and were eighth at regionals.
Epstein and Fritz were each repeat All-Academic honorees. Epstein captured her third straight award after earning all-region honors in each of the past three seasons while Fritz came away with her second straight All-Academic selection. Epstein placed third at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional to qualify for the NCAA Division III National Championships while Fritz took 18th at regionals.
