Moser Named WBCA All-America First Team

Junior first Bullet to earn national accolades from coaches’ organization

Caitlin Moser is Gettysburg's first WBCA All-American.

2010 NCAA Division III State Farm Coaches' All-America Team

ATLANTA – Junior Caitlin Moser (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing) was named NCAA Division III State Farm® Coaches' All-America First Team by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association, claiming the biggest award of her outstanding career and becoming the first player from Gettysburg College to earn national recognition from the organization.

Moser was one of 10 players selected to the nation's elite team in voting by the WBCA national committee. She is the first Bullet to cop honors from the WBCA and the sixth All-American in program history overall.

Moser's selection comes on the heels of the greatest season in school history as Gettysburg went 24-5, breaking the school record for wins, and advanced to the NCAA Division III Tournament “Sweet 16.” She led the Bullets in scoring and rebounding, averaging 15.1 points and 7.7 rebounds per game. The junior developed into more than just a primary scoring option this winter, establishing new career marks for assists (69), blocks (16), and steals (56).

Action
The NCAA Division III Tournament was a showcase for Moser's talents as she averaged 19.7 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 3.0 assists in three postseason games. In the opening round against Farmingdale State College, she exploded for a career-high 34 points and 14 rebounds in an 11-point victory. Moser also posted 21 points and eight rebounds against Babson College in an overtime loss in the first game of sectionals.

Moser joins a short list of women's basketball All-Americans at Gettysburg. Denise Babinchak '84 was the first to earn national recognition from the Women's America Basketball Association following the 1983-84 season. Sue Marshall '85 and Karen Tessmer '85 earned All-America status from the American Women's Sports Federation in 1984-85, while Ann Hymes '96 and Jennifer Bengel '06 were both named All-Americans by DIII News in their senior seasons. Moser and Babinchak are the only first-team All-Americans in school history.

In just three seasons on the hardwood, the Bullet junior has already etched her name among Gettysburg's all-time greats. She ranks fifth in school history in both scoring (1,258 points) and field goals made (511), sixth in free throws made (233), 11th in steals (147), and 13th in rebounds (614).

All-America recognition gives Moser a full house of awards this winter. She was named All-Centennial Conference First Team, D3hoops.com All-Mid-Atlantic Region First Team, ECAC South Third Team, and WBCA/State Farm® All-Region 4 First Team. There may be one more accolade waiting in the wings with the announcement of the D3hoops All-America team set for Saturday, March 20.
