GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Gettysburg College women's basketball team closed the 2009-10 season ranked among the best teams in NCAA Division III according to a pair of final polls. The Bullets were tabbed 16th in the end-of-the-year poll by D3hoops.com, while the team held down the No. 18 spot in the USA Today ESPN Division III Coaches' Poll presented by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA).

Led by WBCA All-American Caitlin Moser (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing) and All-Centennial Conference selections Allie Drechsler (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) and Courtney Fields (Baltimore, Md./St. Paul's School for Girls), the Bullets set a new program standard for excellence this season. The team went 24-5 and tied for first place in the conference regular season standings with a 17-3 record. After receiving the school's fourth bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament, Gettysburg showed why it belonged by taking down Farmingdale State College and Utica College in the first two rounds before bowing out to Babson College in overtime in the “Sweet 16.”

The Orange and Blue received national notice throughout the season, receiving votes from each organization's polls and cracking the top 25 in the D3hoops ballot on three occasions. This season marks the first time Gettysburg has been nationally ranked to close the year in 15 years.

Gettysburg loses Drechsler and Fields to graduation, however, Moser leads a pack of experienced players that will try to duplicate or better this season's success in 2010-11.
