Bullets Compete at McDaniel Invitational

ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. – Freshman Austin Smith shot a 77 on the second day of the McDaniel College Spring Invitational as Gettysburg finished 14th among 15 teams.

The Bullets finished with a 36-hole score of 668, shooting a 332 on Saturday and a 336 on Sunday. Wesley College won the invitational with a 621 (313-308) while New York University's Mike Leibfried claimed medalist honors with a 148 (75-73).

Junior Peter Ruymann  was Gettysburg's top overall finisher, tying for 27th among 78 golfers, carding a 162 (82-80). After carding a 92 on the first day, Smith finished 15 strokes better on Sunday, tying his second best round of the year to tie for 51st (169). Sophomore George Whitelaw tied for 59th with a 172 (84-88) while junior Colin Quinn placed 69th with a 178 (87-91). 

Senior Reid Sessa shot a 79 on the first day but withdrew on Sunday.

Gettysburg resumes its schedule on Wednesday, when it competes at the Dickinson Invitational.
