CARLISLE, Pa. – Freshman
Austin Smith won his second invitational of the season, claiming medalist honors with a five-over 77 to lead the Gettysburg College men's golf team to a second-place finish among eight teams at the Dickinson Spring Invitational at Eagles Crossing Golf Course.
Gettysburg shot a season-best 321 – its lowest round since the Gettysburg Spring Invitational just over a year ago when the Bullets carded a 319. York (Pa.) College won with a 316.
Smith, who finished with a 77 for the second consecutive round, edged out four other golfers by one stroke. He also won the Susquehanna Fall Invitational back in September.
Sophomore
George Whitelaw also competed well, firing a 79 to finish sixth among 44 golfers. Senior
Reid Sessa tied for 11th with an 82 while juniors
Peter Kratsios and
Peter Ruymann tied for 13th with an 83.
Gettysburg picks up its schedule April 8 when it travels to the Elizabethtown College Invitational.
