ELVERSON, Pa. – Gettysburg's top four golfers all shot a 78 or better as the Bullets jumped out to a fast start over the first 18 holes of the Centennial Conference Championships on Saturday at Stonewall Golf Course.

The Bullets carded a 305, the team's best round in over four years. They are tied for first place with defending conference champion Franklin & Marshall College and are seven strokes in front of third-place McDaniel College. It was Gettysburg's best 18-hole score since its 304 at the Wesley Invitational on September 8, 2005.

Another nine holes will be contested on Saturday before the final 27 holes are completed on Sunday.

Freshman Austin Smith was the Bullets top competitor in the early going, shooting a two-under 74. He is tied for second place with three other golfers and is just two strokes behind leader Brendan Mohler of Franklin & Marshall.

Senior Reid Sessa, coming off a career-low 72 on Tuesday, shot a 76 and is tied for eighth. Also figuring into the team scoring after 18 holes are junior Peter Kratsios, who is tied for 10th with a season-low 77, and sophomore George Whitelaw, who is tied for 13th with a 78. Junior Peter Ruymann is tied for 17th with an 80.
