BOSTON - Greg O'Connor '91, a former member of the Gettysburg College men's swimming team, recently broke a long-standing open-water swim record.
O'Connor, along with Elaine Kornbau Howley, swam a total of 16 miles across the Boston Harbor and back in seven hours and seven minutes on Aug. 11-12, breaking a 41-year-old record of nine-and-a-half hours.
The record-breaking swim was covered by both the
Boston Globe and the

A former three-year letterwinner as a sprint freestyler at Gettysburg, O'Connor swam on four different relay teams that won Middle Atlantic Conference championships.
