Complete Regional Rankings
NEW ORLEANS – Both Gettysburg College cross country teams have been ranked ninth in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division III Mideast Region Preseason Polls.
The men's team, which finished eighth at last year's NCAA Mideast region championship, tied for ninth with Salisbury University and was one of four Centennial Conference schools that were ranked. Allegheny College was selected No. 1 and was followed by Haverford College (No. 2), Carnegie Mellon University (No. 3), Elizabethtown College (No. 4), Dickinson College (No. 5), Susquehanna University (No. 6), Johns Hopkins University (No. 7), and DeSales University (No. 8).
Coming off a fifth-place finish at last year's regional meet, the women's squad was one of five Centennial Conference schools in the rankings. The top three all hailed from the Centennial in Johns Hopkins (No. 1), Haverford (No. 2), and Dickinson (No. 3). Rounding out the top-10 were Grove City College (No. 4), Elizabethtown (No. 5), Carnegie Mellon (No. 6), Susquehanna (No. 7), Swarthmore College (No. 8), Gettysburg, and Lebanon Valley College (No. 10).
Both teams open their season Sept. 4 when they travel to Franklin & Marshall College for the Little Three Meet.
