COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Gettysburg College wrestling team earned a split in a Centennial Conference triangular hosted by Ursinus College, beating Muhlenberg College 42-12 before dropping a 31-12 decision to the hosts.

Gettysburg (3-5, 2-2 CC) took advantage of a depleted Muhlenberg team with four forfeit victories. Freshman Matt Spano (Wappingers Falls, N.Y./Roy C. Ketcham) and sophomore Kevin Poplaski (North Reading, Mass./St. John's Prep) each recorded falls, the former in 29 seconds at 133 and the latter in 3:32 at heavyweight.

Junior Matt Danielson (Bethesda, Md./Bullis School) shut out Patrick Gibson at 157 pounds en route to a 6-0 decision. The Bullets' final decision came from senior DJ Neri (Fairfax Station, Va./W.T. Woodson) who picked up a 5-1 win at 184.

Gettysburg jumped out to a five-point lead on Ursinus as junior Abe Evans (Dover, Pa./Dover) won by technical fall at 125 pounds. The hosts roared back by winning the next five matches before junior Anthony Iorio (Ridgefield Park, N.J./Bergen Catholic) defeated Mike Kevlin 5-2 at 174 pounds. Poplaski capped an undefeated afternoon at heavyweight with his third major decision of the season 10-0 against Brett Smyers.

Next up for the grapplers is a quadrangular hosted by Wilkes University on Sunday, Jan. 30, at 11 a.m.
