Football Leading Division III in Offense

Bullets First in Total Offense, Third in Scoring Offense

Ted Delia and the Bullets have averaged a nation-leading 552 yards of offense of per game.

INDIANAPOLIS – The Gettysburg College football team has been scoring points and piling up yardage at an amazing clip. Now, we know just how prolific that offense has been.

As of the latest NCAA Division III statistical report released on Tuesday, the Bullets are leading the nation in total offense and are ranked third in scoring offense. It is the fourth time in the last three years Gettysburg has been ranked first in total offense, as the Bullets also spent three straight weeks at No. 1 during the 2009 season.

Through its first five games, Gettysburg has averaged 552.4 yards of offense per game, or 18 more than its closest competitor, Monmouth (Ill.) College, has produced. The Bullets have also averaged 47.8 points per game, trailing only Elmhust College (49.8 ppg) and North Central College (52.3 ppg). In addition, Gettysburg is 13th in Division III in rushing (273.6 ypg) and 26th in passing (278.8 ypg).

Individually, a number of Bullets are ranked among the nation's leaders. Sophomore receiver Aden Twer is 10th in receiving yards per game (128.8 ypg), junior quarterback Kody Smith is 21st in passing efficiency (161.88), and junior tailback Ted Delia is tied for 22nd in scoring (10.8 ppg), and 27th in rushing (117.6 ypg).

The Bullets have also made their mark on special teams, ranking seventh in punt returns (20.5 ypr), thanks in large part to a pair of long touchdown returns from Delia, who also ranks second in the nation with 27.8 yards per return.

Gettysburg (3-2, 3-1 CC) takes its bye week on Saturday before hosting Muhlenberg College on Oct. 15 at 1 p.m. in a Centennial Conference game.
