Bobby Christopher earns decision at heavyweight

Bobby Christopher improved to 21-6 on the year with a win at F&M.

LANCASTER, Pa. – Senior Bobby Christopher (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Cardinal Gibbons) picked up a victory in his heavyweight match, but Gettysburg College fell to NCAA Division I Franklin & Marshall College 34-9 on Wednesday night inside the Mayser Center.

Gettysburg (5-11) jumped ahead initially with a forfeit at 125, but Franklin & Marshall won each of the next eight matches, including three by fall. Freshman Dan Traficanti (Pittsburgh, Pa./Kiski School), junior Matt Danielson (Bethesda, Md./Bullis School), and senior DJ Neri (Fairfax, Va./W.T. Woodson) each lost by just two points at 141, 149, and 184, respectively.

Christopher was locked 4-4 with Dan Caulfield late in the heavyweight match up, but the senior scored a takedown with 24 seconds left to secure a 6-4 win. He improved to 21-6 on the season and moved one win shy of 10th on the program's all-time wins list with a mark of 85-38.

Gettysburg closes out is Centennial Conference schedule this weekend with a quadrangular hosted by Stevens Institute of Technology. The Bullets will face the hosts and the United States Merchant Marine Academy, both conference opponents, in addition to Yeshiva University beginning at 1 p.m.
