NEWARK, Del. – Juniors
Tyler Keith and
Kerry Campbell – both running the 5,000 meters – turned in the top performances for the Gettysburg College indoor track & field teams at the University of Delaware Thomson Invitational Saturday afternoon.
Competing against a mixture of Division I, II, and III competition, the Bullets finished 18th of 22 teams on the men's side and 20th among 24 schools on the women's side.
All events were separated into Division I and Division II-III
Keith finished fourth out of 12 runners with an indoor personal record (PR) of 16:12.06. Campbell, running her first indoor 5K, placed sixth out of 19 harriers with a time of 19:33.61. She also competed for Gettysburg's 4x800-meter relay team.
Freshman
Eva Strobl was the only other member of the women's team to earn points, as she placed eighth in the 1,000-meter run in 3:27.78. Also cracking the top-10 were senior
Amanda Pellowe, who placed ninth in the 3,000-meter run in 11:42.19, junior
Yaa Addison, who finished 10th in the mile (5:44.18), and junior
Joy Hallfors, who was 10th in the high jump (4-9).
In addition, the women's 4x800 squad of Campbell, freshman
Meagan Lesniak, senior
Malisa Moody, and Pellowe placed third in 10:45.11.
For the men's team, sophomore
Patrick Hill also scored points, placing seventh in the 800-meter run while taking nearly three-and-a-half seconds off his indoor PR in 2:03.52.
Gettysburg picks up its schedule next Saturday at the Dickinson Invitational.
