LANCASTER, Pa. – Sophomore
Meg Castranova was named the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week in women's soccer on Monday, Oct. 1.
Castranova was named defender of the week for the second time in her career after leading Gettysburg to a pair of 2-1 victories last week. The second-year back helped the visiting Bullets hold Frostburg State University scoreless over the final 73 minutes in a double-overtime victory on Sept. 26.
Castranova was a factor on both sides of the field in a 2-1 victory over No. 25 Haverford College on Sept. 29. She helped the defense hold the Fords to just six shots on goal and she scored the game-winning tally on a corner kick in the 50th minute.
The Bullets sophomore has started all nine matches in the backfield this fall, helping the defense record a 0.55 goals against average and five shutouts.
Gettysburg will host The College of New Jersey at Clark Field on Wednesday, Oct. 3, at 4 p.m.
