Indoor Track Teams Ready for CC Championships

Bullets to Compete at Ursinus College

Junior Joy Hallfors will be competing in three individual events at the CC Championships.
GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Gettysburg College track & field teams will compete at the Centennial Conference Indoor Championships Saturday at Ursinus College, where the Bullets Relay teams will compete for medaling places. 

On the men's side, sophomore Simeon Daniels will lead the team seeded fourth in the high jump (1.83m) while freshman Edward Makinde, ranked ninth in the triple jump (12.30m), will aim to score some points for the team. Daniels, who is also seeded 10th in the 400-meter dash (53.17), will be a key runner in the relays. Makinde will be competing in the long jump as well.

Freshman Tyler Hinton will run for a personal best while ranked 11th in the 60m hurdles (9.59). Classmate Malcolm Belin is seeded eighth in the 60-meter dash (7.37) while junior Sean Thon (Dublin, Ohio/St. Charles Prep.) is ranked 12th (7.43). Both will also compete on relay teams as well as competing in the 200-meter dash.

On the women's side, seeded among the top-11 in the high jump are senior Alex Van Tuyl (ninth, 1.47m) and junior Joy Hallfors (11th, 1.47m). Sophomore Eva Hinkeldey enters the meet ranked eighth in the pole vault (2.80m). Van Tuyl, also seeded 12th in the triple jump (9.76m), will be competing in the long jump and 60-meter hurdles with Hallfors as well.

Sophomore Alex Bull is ranked 12th in the 5,000-meter run (19:04.66) and will later compete in the 3,000-meter run. Junior Amanda Koslo checks in at 11th in the 400-meter dash (1:03.74) and will also run the 200-meter dash and aid in the relays. In addition, classmate Yaa Addison is ranked 11th in the 800-meter run (2:31.12) and will run a leg of 4x800m relay.

Both the men's and women's distance medley relays will look to gain additional points. Continuing  to aid in team efforts will be the 4x200-meter relay teams, where the men are ranked sixth (1:35.90) and the women are ranked seventh (1:58.62). In addition, the school record-holding men's 4x800-meter relay team will look to break their own school record set last week as they are ranked second (8:03.10), while the women's team is slotted fourth (10:11.00). Both 4x400-meter relay teams hope to pick up points as well.

Others competing in individual events for the Bullets are sophomores Celia Hartz  in the shot put and Cari McMaster in the high, long and triple jump. Also on the women's side, freshman Madison Senseney will compete in the long jump and 60-meter hurdles. Her classmates, Bella Baxter and Jackie Marotto will be competing in the 5,000-meter run along with sophomore Anna Schneider.

Freshman Rashida Aluko-Roberts is running the 60- and 200-meter dash while her classmate Olivia Powell is entered in the 400.

Rounding out the women's team's entries is sophomore Tana Giraldo running the 800 and freshman Amy Whitehouse in the 200. Aiding in relays will be senior captain Amanda Pellowe, junior Kerry Campbell and freshman Meagan Lesniak.

For the men, junior captains Andrew Bay and Tom Senseney along with sophomores Evan Feinberg and Malcolm Perry will compete in the 60-meter dash. Senseney will also compete in the 400 and Bay will run the 200. In addition, freshman Jeff Horvath will run the mile while classmate Ryan Matzke runs the 800.

Juniors Will Demakis, Tyler Keith, Brad Wiseman and captain Joe Sharp along with freshman Ryan Rausch and sophomore Patrick Hill will focus their efforts in relay action.
