LANCASTER, Pa. – Sophomore midfielder
Bijan Firouzan (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) of the Gettysburg College men's lacrosse team has been named the Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Week, it was announced Monday.
Firouzan turned in a nine-point week as the Bullets split a pair of non-conference games. He scored a career-high six goals on six shots in a 17-8 win over Goucher College on Wednesday, then recorded two goals and an assist in an 8-5 loss at 10th-ranked Salisbury University on Saturday. He became just the second Gettysburg player in the last 10 years to score six goals in a game, joining teammate
Robby Maddux (Baltimore, Md./St. Paul's), who accomplished the feat last season.
Over the team's first three games, Firouzan leads Gettysburg in points (11) and is tied for the team lead in goals (nine).
Gettysburg has now claimed three Centennial Conference Player of the Week this season, as freshman midfielder
Jameson Smith (Glen Ridge, N.J./Glen Ridge) and senior defenseman
Matt Canter (Potomac, Md./Thomas S. Wootton) were named Offensive and Defensive POWs last Monday.
The 14th-ranked Bullets (2-1) host third-ranked Lynchburg College on Saturday in a non-conference outing starting at 1 p.m.
