GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Senior Matt Spano (Wappingers Falls, N.Y./Roy C. Ketcham) continued to climb Gettysburg's career wins list with a pair of wins against New York University and Muhlenberg College Saturday afternoon inside Bream Gym.
 
Gettysburg (4-13, 1-4 CC) opened the day with a 36-9 loss to NYU (6-8, 3-3 CC). Spano earned the host's first win, scoring an escape and a takedown in the final period to edge Nick Matthews 3-2 at 141 pounds. Gettysburg's next victory came at 174 pounds where senior Jared Leon (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) took Dylan Lojac down right away and worked his way to a quick 36-second pin.
 
Muhlenberg (1-9, 0-4 CC) scored wins in two the three matches wrestled in a 42-8 loss to the Bullets. Freshman Brandon Carcuffe (Oxford, N.J./West Morris Central) scored a pair of takedowns in the opening period against Che Chengsupanimit at 149 before eventually recording a fall with nine seconds left in the frame.
 
The rest of the matches won by the Bullets were decided by forfeit, including Spano's second win at 141. The victory lifted the senior's record to 95-52 and moved him into fourth place on the program's all-time wins list.
 
Gettysburg hosts McDaniel College on Wednesday, Feb. 5, at 7 p.m.
