WESTMINSTER, Md. – The Gettysburg College wrestling team posted three convincing victories to kick off its dual schedule Sunday at McDaniel College.
 
Gettysburg (3-0) opened with a 27-15 victory over the University of Scranton. After dropping the last two meetings with the Royals, the Bullets jumped out early with four wins to open this year's contest. Seniors Lenny Ogozalek (Summit Hill, Pa./Panther Valley) and Louie Carusillo (Pequannock, N.J./DePaul Catholic) each posted pins, the former in 6:26 at 125 and the latter at 2:52 at 133. Freshman Sean Thompson (Plainsboro, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro South) followed with a major decision (9-1) at 141 pounds.
 
Sophomore Colin Devlin (Dresher, Pa./Upper Dublin), making his season debut for the Bullets, picked up a 12-6 decision at 149 to make it 19-0. Junior Colin Kowalski (Derwood, Md./Georgetown Prep) added to the advantage with a 12-2 major decision at 165.
 
Scranton won the next three bouts before junior heavyweight Paul Triandafilou (Derwood, Md./Georgetown Prep) closed the victory with a major decision (9-1).
 
Gettysburg received six forfeit wins in a 57-0 victory over Penn State Mont Alto. Freshman Alex Shaffer (Doylestown, Pa./Archbishop Wood) put the Bullets on the board with a first-period pin (1:13) at 125 pounds. Sophomore Traken Sutton (Wethersfield, Conn./Loomis Chaffee) added an 8-5 decision at 149 and freshman Sal Puglisi (Pompton Lakes, N.J./Pompton Lakes) notched a fall in 4:11 at 174 pounds. Sophomore Austin Roskos (Lawrenceville, N.J./Hopewell Valley) recorded a pin just 1:07 into his match at 184.
 
The Orange and Blue finished the afternoon by winning seven of 10 bouts in a 34-13 win over Alderson Broaddus University. Ogozalek once again put his team in front early, pinning Colton Bethel in 4:50 at 125 pounds. It was the senior's team-best 10th fall of the year.
 
After a close win by the Battlers at 133, Gettysburg won each of the next five matches. Thompson picked up a major decision (16-2) to improve to 11-2 at 141 pounds. Senior Jake Bracken (Chatsworth, Calif./Harvard-Westlake) piled up the points in his season debut, posting a 19-1 technical fall at 149. A major decision by Kowalski (11-1) at 165 put the Bullets in front 25-3.
 
Freshman Mike Iodice (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central) scored a 9-4 decision at 197 pounds and Triandafilou earned his second forfeit win of the day to close the competition.
 
Gettysburg returns to action at the Petrofes Invitational hosted by Messiah College on Dec. 1-2.
