Complete Results

ROCKY MOUNT, Va.
– Junior Colin Kowalski (Derwood, Md./Georgetown Prep) won his final two matches at 165 pounds to secure a third-place finish at regionals and clinch a spot in the NCAA Division III Championship on March 9-10 in Cleveland, Ohio.

Kowalski earned his first national appearance by winning four of his five bouts at the Southeast Regional. His only loss occurred in Saturday's opener as fifth-ranked Jeff Hojnacki of Messiah College managed to slip by the Bullet junior 3-1 in sudden victory.

The Gettysburg grappler bounced back in the consolation bracket. Kowalski dispatched Nathan Wertheimer of Johns Hopkins University 4-0 to earn a trip to the consolation final. Facing 10th-ranked Jackson Drum of York (Pa.) College with a bid to nationals on the line, Kowalski completely dominated the match on the way to a 13-2 major decision. He improved to 37-5 overall and moved into fourth place on Gettysburg's single-season wins list.

Senior Lenny Ogozalek (Summit Hill, Pa./Panther Valley) closed his career with a fifth-place finish at 125 pounds. He was knocked out of the championship bracket with an 8-1 loss to York's Dylan Nuttall and suffered a decision setback in his first consolation bout. Ogozalek came back in the fifth-place bout to pick up a second-period pin against Gabriel Wilson of Greensboro College, extending his single-season record for pins to 19. The senior posted 32 victories this season which is the most ever by a 125-pound grappler at Gettysburg. Ogozalek finished with a career record of 86-59 and ranked second all-time with 37 falls.

Gettysburg's remaining competitor in action on the second day of the regional was sophomore Colin Devlin (Dresher, Pa./Upper Dublin) at 149. Devlin dropped his only bout on the day and closed the year with a 23-10 record.

Gettysburg finished 11th of 18 teams with 44 points at the regional. Messiah College took home the top spot with 147 points and York was second with 133.

The national tournament will take place at the Cleveland Public Auditorium on March 9-10.
