The John F. Jaeger Center for Athletics, Recreation, and Fitness, located west of the Bream Wright Hauser Athletic Complex, broke ground in June 2008 and opened its doors in the fall of 2009. Inside the 55,000 square-foot facility are an array of athletic and fitness areas available to all Gettysburg students and staff, including The Robert '79 and Angela Ortenzio Fitness Center, a student lounge known as “The Dive,” a multi-purpose room where classes will be held, a bouldering wall, a climbing wall, and a large lobby area. The complex also includes a natatorium with eight competition lanes, a five-lane warm-up pool, and a large spectator gallery.
On May 4, 2012, the Center was officially named in honor of Trustee John F. Jaeger '65. Jaeger's lead gift of $1.2 million helped launch the $25-million dollar project and his recent commitment of $5 million to the College marked the largest gift to the general endowment in the school's history.
