Softball Earns NFCA Academic Award

STARKVILLE, Miss. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) recently named its girls got game Team Academic Awards and for the second consecutive season, Gettysburg College was among nation’s best scholastic teams, ranking ninth overall in NCAA Division III with a cumulative grade point average of 3.395 during the 2008-2009 academic year.

CENTERVILLE, Mass. – Senior Erin Ober picked up her final award of the postseason as she was named to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III South Softball All-Star First Team according to a recent announcement made by the organization.

GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Gettysburg College's Erin Ober added another award to her burgeoning trophy case this spring as the senior outfielder was tabbed ESPN The Magazine College Division Academic All-District 2 Third Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and announced on Thursday, May 7.

STARKVILLE, Miss. - Senior Erin Ober was named to the Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III All-East Region First Team following the completion of an outstanding season on the diamond with the Gettysburg College softball team. Ober is the first Bullet to cop all-region accolades in four years.

Rain Wipes Out Final Day of CC Softball Tournament

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The final day of competition of the 2009 Centennial Conference Softball Tournament was cancelled due to a massive rain storm sweeping across the eastern seaboard of the United States. By virtue of holding the highest remaining seed heading into Sunday’s competition, Muhlenberg College was named the CC champion and received the automatic qualifier to the NCAA Division III Tournament.

Bullets Stay Alive in CC Playoffs with 1-0 Upset of Ursinus

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Gettysburg College softball team kept its conference title hopes alive and dashed those of defending champion and host Ursinus College, ousting the top seed with a 1-0 victory in the Centennial Conference Tournament. Earlier in the day, the third-seeded Bullets dropped an 8-5 decision to No. 2 Muhlenberg College as the Mules plated five runs in their final at bat, including a walk-off grand slam.

Ober Tabbed Player of the Year, Four Bullets Tabbed All-CC

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Gettysburg College senior Erin Ober connected on a home run in her final regular-season at bat and she knocked another one out of the park on Thursday, April 30, earning Centennial Conference Player of the Year as voted on by the conference’s head softball coaches. Four Bullets in all landed spots on the all-conference team with Ober and fellow senior Nicole Yannotta being named first team.
