CC Championship Day 1 Results
HAMPSTEAD, Md. – Freshman
Molly Nulty (Gettysburg, Pa./Homer) shot an 88 to finish in a tie for fourth and pace the Gettysburg College women's golf team to third following the opening day of play at the Centennial Conference Championship.
With a 395 on day one at the Piney Branch Golf Club, Gettysburg is nearly 30 strokes behind the pace set by Franklin & Marshall College (366) and McDaniel College (368). The Diplomats, who have never finished better than second as a team, had each of the top two individual rounds on the day with Grace Gallagher shooting an 84 and Meghan Maloney carding an 86 on the par-72, 5,806-yard course.
Nulty shaved three strokes off her season average to finish tied with McDaniel's Morgan Koopman for fourth place. She was joined in the top 10 by defending CC medalist
Caroline Nathan (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman), who carded a 93 to finish tied for ninth overall.
Junior
Lauren Walsh (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) posted a 104 in her first conference championship appearance, placing her alone in 15th. Junior
Marybeth Scott (Chester Springs, Pa./The Hill School) finished three spots behind in 18th with a 110.
Opening groups are slated to tee off at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday. The forecast is calling for rain Saturday night and continuing through Sunday which could have a detrimental affect the final day of play.
