LANCASTER, Pa. – A doubles sweep proved to be the difference as Franklin & Marshall College maintained its perfect Centennial Conference record with a 6-3 defeat of the Gettysburg College men's tennis team on Tuesday, April 6.

Franklin & Marshall (8-5, 4-0 CC) picked up its sixth consecutive victory and its fourth in conference play heading into a weekend match up with leading title contender Johns Hopkins University. The Diplomats opened with a pair of close wins at third (8-5) and second doubles (8-6) before Gettysburg (6-5, 1-3 CC) sophomores Terry Keegan (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Prep) and Sebastian Rodriguez (Plano, Texas/Plano West) took Armen Vartan and Cameron Relic the distance at the top spot. The Diplomat pair eventually survived a tiebreaker to pull out a 9-8 decision.

The Bullets managed to split the singles competitions with freshman Chris Curran (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Ludlowe) posting an impressive victory at No. 1. Curran downed the veteran Vartan 6-4, 6-4 and upping his season record to 10-4.

Sophomore Mike McLaughlin (Hanover, Pa./South Western) rebounded from an opening 6-1 loss to Relic at the fourth position to take set two 6-3 and the ensuing super tiebreaker 10-5. Rodriguez rounded out Gettysburg's wins with a straight-set victory at fifth singles 6-2, 6-3.

The Bullets return home this Saturday, April 10, against Haverford College at 1 p.m.
