GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Despite a national championship and multiple appearances in the NCAA Tournament, the Gettysburg College women's lacrosse team had gone without a Centennial Conference championship in over half a decade.
That trend changed in 2012
as the Bullets regained the prize for the first time since 2006, marking top moment No. 7 in Gettysburg College athletics in 2011-12. The team cruised to the finals,
defeating Swarthmore College 18-6 in the semifinals at Clark Field.
Facing Washington College in the title game, the Bullets left nothing to chance by scoring 11 of the first 12 goals of the game.
Lindsey Robinson '13 poured in the first three goals and
Hannah Church '12 added the fourth to stake the team to a 4-0 lead.
Church would add two more goals in the opening period, including the 200th of her career, as the Bullets raced out to an insurmountable 12-2 lead at the half.
Twenty-five players contributed to the victory with Church posting eight points and Robinson scoring four goals and one assist. The victory secured Gettysburg's league-best seventh Centennial crown and sent the Bullets to the NCAA Tournament for the 11th consecutive season.
