LANCASTER, Pa. – The Gettysburg College men's tennis team was picked to finish seventh in the Centennial Conference this spring according to a vote by the league's head coaches.
Johns Hopkins University hit its limit with nine first-place votes and 81 total points to finish as the favorite heading into the spring. Haverford College grabbed the remaining first-place vote and ended up tied with Swarthmore College for second with 67 points. Franklin & Marshall College rounded out the preseason playoff contenders in fourth with 61 points.
Gettysburg tallied 33 points to finish behind Washington College (49 points) and Dickinson College (37). Ursinus College (27), Muhlenberg College (19), and McDaniel College (9) rounded out the poll.
The Bullets posted an 8-8 overall record last season. The team finished seventh in the conference standings with a 3-6 record.
Gettysburg opens the year against Baldwin-Wallace College on Sunday, March 10, in Hilton Head, S.C.
