HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Gettysburg College men's tennis team fell in its Centennial Conference opener at regionally-ranked Haverford College as the Fords picked up a 9-0 decision on Saturday.
 
Haverford (1-4, 1-0 CC), which entered the day ranked eighth in the Atlantic South Region, jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the doubles competitions. The Fords earned a shutout at the top flight, while winning the other two battles with 8-2 scores. Senior James Salierno (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) and freshman Kyle Shope (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) were the last Gettysburg players to leave the court following an 8-2 loss at No. 3.
 
In singles play, freshman Dave Musser (Lititz, Pa./Manheim Twp.) dropped a 6-4, 6-2 decision to Luis Acaba at No. 2. Zach Mason topped senior Johnny Nelson (Big Prairie, Ohio/West Holmes) 6-2, 6-2 at the fifth flight.
 
Gettysburg is back in action at home against Muhlenberg College on Friday, March 29, at 3 p.m.
