BALTIMORE – Eighth-ranked Johns Hopkins University defeated Gettysburg College 9-0 in Centennial Conference men's tennis action on Tuesday.
Johns Hopkins (9-2, 3-0 CC) extended its regular-season unbeaten streak against conference foes to 56 matches with the shut out. The Blue Jays opened with two wins in doubles action before senior
Chris Curran (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Ludlowe) and
Dave Musser (Lititz, Pa./Manheim Twp.) finally bowed to David Greenbaum and Andy Hersh 8-5 at the top flight.
In singles competition, Johns Hopkins dropped only five games in straight-set wins at the bottom five flights. Curran was the last Bullet to leave the court, eventually falling to Hersh, who entered the match ranked fifth in the nation, in a 6-2, 6-3 loss at No. 1.
Gettysburg returns home for its next match against York (Pa.) College on Friday, April 5, at 4 p.m.
